Flowers: Wands of reddish purple to deep pink, feathery flowers are carried on erect stems that rise 10 to 12 inches above the foliage.
Foliage: Dark reddish brown leaves with a medium texture.
Habit: Mounding herbaceous perennial to 24 inches tall and wide.
Origins: Astilbes are native to Asia. 'Dark Side of the Moon' is a cultivar introduced by Proven Winners Perennials in 2023.
How to grow it: Plant 'Dark Side of the Moon' astilbe in sun or shade. It grows and blooms best with more sun in the North. In the South, ensure that it gets protection from afternoon sun. In any location, astilbes need consistent, ample moisture and will not tolerate drying out. Remove old foliage in early spring. USDA Zones 4–9.
